Peter T. Cangany, Jr.
For more than three decades at professional services firm Ernst & Young (EY), Peter T. Cangany focused on serving insurance and reinsurance clients and coordinating audit services for a wide range of companies, including Fortune 100 financial services organizations, global enterprises, Bermuda-based reinsurers and US domestic insurers.
Mr. Cangany, Jr. joined EY in 1980 upon graduating college and retired from the firm in 2017. Mr. Cangany became an EY partner in 1993 and, during his tenure, worked in EY’s Indianapolis office from 1980 to 1987, its Seattle office from 1987 to 2004, its San Antonio office from 2004 to 2011, and New York and Bermuda offices from 2011 to 2017.
At EY, Mr. Cangany specialized in working with insurance entities, primarily property, casualty and reinsurance. He also worked closely with Beneficient during its early formation on various accounting and consolidation matters.
During his 37 years with EY, Mr. Cangany served as the engagement partner on several large public and non-public nationally recognized companies. He held numerous leadership positions at EY, including area insurance practice leader for the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and BBC (Bermuda, Bahamas, Caymans) and Office Managing Partner for EY’s Seattle and Bermuda offices.
Mr. Cangany serves on the Board of Trustees – Franklin College of Indiana (2009–present) and is the Finance Committee Chair (and previously Audit Committee Chair).
Mr. Cangany earned a B.A. in Accounting from Franklin College and an M.B.A. from Texas A&M University. He is a certified public accountant.
